In early 2024, we will release the Tannowitz line of red wines. For this series, we produce wines only in the very best vintages, from the very best grapes. A reduced harvest, hand-selected grapes, aging in barrique barrels, and no filtration—these are the common characteristics of these exceptional, natural, and masterfully crafted wines.
From the 2022 vintage, we bottled Merlot and Rulanské modré in this series. Both wines were aged in Francois Frères barrique barrels. We selected barrels with a light toast, and this was their first use. Barrique barrels have a standardized volume of 225 liters, which means this is a limited production run—we can offer only 300 bottles of each variety.
An exclusive line calls for exceptional packaging, so you’ll find these wines not only in special bottles but also with their own labels. The labels reflect the wines’ natural character to the fullest—the floating dandelion fluff serves as a reminder that every other row in the vineyard is grassed over and dotted with dandelions in the summer. Tradition is also reflected in the name of this series; “Tannowitz” refers to the original name of our village, Dolní Dunajovice.
Pinot Noir Barrique 2022, Select Grapes, Dry, Unfiltered, Zimní vrch
The grapes for this wine come from the Zimní vrch vineyard in our village of Dolní Dunajovice. As with all wines in this series, the grapes come from a reduced harvest, were picked by hand, and the wine was aged in barrique barrels and left unfiltered. Nature in a bottle, in its most natural and sublime form. The grapes from 12-year-old vines were harvested on October 13, 2022; the wine has been bottled since August 16, 2023, and we’ll be releasing it for sale in early 2024. Merlot Barrique 2022, select grapes, dry, unfiltered, Výsluní
The grapes come from a 22-year-old vineyard at Výsluní; the wine was aged in barrique barrels and has been bottled since August 16, 2023. This Merlot from the Tannowitz series is a beautiful garnet-colored wine with flavors of dark chocolate and sweet notes of exotic spices. This wine can be enjoyed immediately, but it is also suitable for aging. Find more information about this wine in our e-shop.
