2023 Harvest

The grape harvest marks the end of our demanding, year-round work in the vineyard and the beginning of a new phase of work in the cellar. So for us, the harvest is actually both an end and a beginning.

And how was the 2023 harvest? Compared to last year, the weather was more favorable and there was less rainfall. For us, this means a lower yield per hectare, but higher quality as a result. We kicked off this year’s harvest on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, with the picking of Solaris. This variety is always the first. Next came Pinot Gris, Kerner, Moravian Muscat, and Müllerka, from which our customers could look forward to our Young Wine. September was very warm, so even later-ripening varieties, such as Welschriesling, ripened earlier than usual. The last white varieties we harvested were Rýňák from Dunajovský kopec and Veltlín from the Pod Slunným vrchem vineyard. As is customary every year, the blue varieties—Frankovka, Rulanda modrá, and Nativa—brought the harvest to a close.
